Exclusive interview with Gabriel “I want to make a difference in the world!”
S!: Hi Gabriel, thank you for joining us today! How are you doing?
G: Good, thank you for having me !
S!: So you are EMT by profession, can you explain in few words what are the duties of EMT for people who don’t know?
G: Sure, a EMT is a first responder , so when someone calls 911 for a medical emergency, we arrive and try our best to treat & stabilise our patient and get them to a hospital as soon as possible
S!: You decided to do EMT cause you want to make a difference. Is it psychologically hard job? How do you cope with stress?
G: In a lot of ways it is a stressful job because of the fact that if you call for a EMT it means you're probably not having a good day, but on the flip side knowing that I get the opportunity to help people every day, when i go into work I get a chance to make a impact that gives me purpose and fulfilment stress and EMS is just a packaged deal at the end of the day, but its worth it.
S!: Did it impact you professionally when pandemic started?
G: Yes, but not in the way it affected most people, I actually got another job as a covid screener during pandemic times, the need for medical stuff was so high i've been working two jobs sense covid hit, in fact I almost moved to New York to help out up there (which is a big move going from Houston to New York) but I changed my mind because I couldn't leave my family. So yahe I've been busy to say the least.
S!: What kind of lesson did you learn from covid-19 situation?
G: So many, but if i have to pick one. It's to appreciate what we have ,if you have good health go enjoy it, if you have family remember to tell them you love them. If you live in a place with clean air remember to take a deep breath, be generous every chance you get support your small business, appreciate friends and be active in your community. That’s what I feel covid taught me more then anything else.
S!: You were looking into other ways to help people and improve the environment. You started your own depop store to encourage people to recycle clothing. It’s a great way of changing the world!
G: Yes thats exactly right. I know to some people it may seem silly but every little thing we do makes a ripple and if we get enough ripples it’ll become a wave and we can really make a difference, so if someone gets a chance to express themselves more fully through a one of a kind unique clothing pice and at the same time feel good that its a more sustainable way of shopping then we just made a ripple.
S!: What is the most exciting project you’ve participated as a model?
G: I’m still new to the modelling thing so I've only done a few shoots or product advertisement here and there but my depop is my favourite project so far because of the freedom and creativity.
S!: With your love to fashion and style and an eye for unique pieces, do you see yourself as a fashion designer one day?
G: I don't see that in my near future because of my work in the medical feel taking opportunity right now but if a good opportunity came my way im sure id love the challenge.
S!: If you could model for any designer dead or alive who would it be?
G: Anyone? Well maybe Polykleitos only because he could make me into a greek statue lol.
S!: Who is your inspiration right now?
G: Any one who is pushing the norm and willing to stand out , thats who inspires me but also the europeans have been doing some great fits
S!: What is your biggest dream?
G: Gezz I’m not sure, rich and famous? Right? It would be cool if I helped a bunch of people along the way.
S!: What is your motivational quote of the day?
G: uhhh..
Don't worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy… that's Bob Marley.
S!: Excellent! Thank you so much for being with us today!
