Exclusive interview with Mia Scozzafave

Today we are happy to interview Mia Scozzafave!
This brazilian actress is based in LA and has been starring in America and Latin America movies.

S!: Hi Mia, how are you doing today? What’s up?
MS: Hi there, everything fantastic here!

S!: You are a creative and passionate personality with versatile acting portfolio. What was the scariest role you had to play?
MS: To me depends on the light that you see it. It has the most challenging ones, the ones that you can’t sleep, the ones you overthink. But, one character that comes to my mind is Jo (The book of Job). I had scary feelings because not only because she lost all her family but also she had to kill her mom. The idea of loosing anyone in my real family, is one of the most scary feelings to me.

S!: Do you have your favorite role, where you could feel a true connection to you heroine, understanding and sharing every movement of her sole?
MS: Well thats what I strive with all my characters. Fully understanding their motivations, desires, feelings without judging or holding back. After understanding, you live it. At some point when you do you job, you do have to find a connection to the character and then is like magic, everything just starts to happen like you are someone else.

S!: You constantly study and improve your acting skills. Do you have your go-to tip how to cry in front of the camera? Does that do easy for you?
MS: There are so many different techniques to cry on screen. But just like acting itself, I believe the best one is the one that works for you. In my case, depends on so many things. How am I feeling that day? How is the mood on set? I just need a tear or I need a long crying? Sometimes feelings just show up and the tears roll down. Sometimes you need to work on your feelings and build it up to that moment. And sometimes you just need eye drops (laughs).

S!: Is it easy for you to sort of “go out” of the character after your working day? How long do you need to become Mia again after filming?
MS: I snap out of it, almost immediately. But this has been one of my goals as an actress since very early in my career. Being an actor can be very exhausting. You are dealing with all kinds of emotions at work, real emotions. Sometimes you need to go into very dark places. Even going to very exciting places can be exhausting. So to me, is very important to let go the feelings of the day behind, go home, reset and then start fresh next day.

S!: Do you feel this line, where it is still Mia and where starts your character? Do you sometimes feel that you act as your character in real life?
MS: Yes, it happens. In fact, I think it happens all the time. Most probably is happening right now (lol). Let me explain… I guess if you asks me this same question in 1 week the answers of this interview would be totally different. Then in a month, totally different again. Each character, each moment of my life is making me transform. I’m always in constant change and that why I love so much what I do. I have an chance to be who I want to be, everyday, and not be called “crazy’. ahahahah

S!: What is your current project?
MS: I’m shooting two projects this next month. “Vegas Hotel” and “In My father’s Footsteps”.

S!: When can we enjoy next movie with you?
MS: Attack of the Unknown is my next movie to premiere, so keep your ears and eyes open to that!

S!: Who inspires you? Name your three biggest inspirations of all times.
MS: At right of this very moment, I would say: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Stanley Kubrick and Gal Gadot.

S!: What made you move to LA? What is your favorite part about being here?
MS: I have a bachelor’s degree as a journalist back home. I came to L.A to study in a 3 months english program. My favorite part of being here is knowing that I’m in a land of opportunities and that I will always find challenges and excitement in my life.

S!: What happiness means to you?
MS: Waves. There are certain things that you can’t put in words. It’s a infinite circle.

S!: Thanks a lot Mia! Looking forward to seeing you on the big screen.
